BATHERS

With expansive views of North Cronulla Beach and working within the existing Bathers apartment design by Candalepas Associates, this project had to be both mindful of, and sympathetic to, its surroundings.

The brief was to define the living zones whilst also creating much needed storage and display space for the fuss-free downsizer owners.  This included a bar and bookshelf design that fit seamlessly into the existing spaces.

A minimal and refined palette was used to link the bar and bookshelf together from their respective zones, while complementing the existing palette that’s dominated by concrete and timber.

It was requested that the bar not overwhelm the dining space, and instead act as an extension of the kitchen for entertaining.  It incorporates two Vintec wine fridges, as well as a pull-out step ladder to allow easy access to the tallest shelf.

The bookshelf spans over four metres and was designed specifically around the owners’ collection of books, trinkets and treasures.  It defines the Western living space which is now fondly referred to as ‘the library’, complete with its own library ladder.
